Hesket House
Hesket House was built in 1780 and started life as "The Steam
Packet Inn" the original hotel for the port at Fishers Cross,
later named Port Carlisle, where such distinguished visitors as
Woodrow Wilson have been a guest.

The Grade II listed building has been a farm and family home since
around the turn of the century, situated in an A.O.N.B conservation
area and built actually on the site of the Hadrians Wall Vallum,
with Roman altar stone built in to the front wall above the door,
Hesket House is perfectly situated for guests who are walking or
cycling the National Trail, bird/wildlife explorers or anyone just
enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the beautiful Solway coastline.
The Lake District, historic Carlisle and the romance of Gretna
Green are also close by. Spacious double, twin, family and single
en-suite rooms are furnished to a high standard including TVand
tea/coffee making facilities, providing luxurious surroundings with
a warm family atmosphere. Hearty breakfasts using local produce
and free range eggs are described by some as "the best on the
wall".
